6 minutes @ 3/kb sec. on a dial up & the file is still 1.11mb

G'day; about 7 mins d/l over my 32k d/up but I couldn't view it without opening it in a new window. The full screen pop up when clicking the link gave a blank transparent window, ie your name in the address bar but the next minimised window showing through. I can tell when the clip is fully loaded because the hard drive stops working but I had to go back with the back button and then "open in new window" to actually view the clip. Minor shit really, it all works and 6-7 mins is about right for 1.1 meg over my connection so there was no compression there. Cheers !!

Had trouble when I simply clicked on the link - it didn't seem to finish loading and wouldn't play through. When I opened it in another window, though, it started playing within a couple of seconds as it continued loading. Cable modem.

If you right click & 'save target' - then double click the saved file it opens in QuickTime

Thanks folks, hmmm, just as suspected. 3gp can't be compressed due to low frame rate. Karen, I guess the combination of your pre-load plus cable, gave the impression of streaming video. Coming soon to Typepad though is support for 3gp files in their next upgrade. From then on streaming should give dial-uppers much quicker access.

Took about 3 minutes on 56K dial-up.
Aaaah, Sydney and the Cross!
(many skeletons in the cupboard about THAT particular area in the 60's and 70's.)
Wild horses, etc. :>)

Sanjay, the mov. file is a Quicktime file. Not sure about the download time, but you'll need it to open the video file. Any other dial-uppers have slow Quicktime downloads...?
