Hit 'n run

Image925Here's an image one doesn't care to see too often. Rounding a corner up into Central country trains just after midnight I was confronted with the aftermath of a hit 'n run. Just 30 seconds earlier this old street fella was knocked down at the crossing. Some American backpackers were first on the scene having witnessed the event. I checked him over for breaks before the cops and medics arrived. He was conscious yet bleeding freely from major lacerations along the right forearm. Plus his elbow was buggered. The backpacker kindly supplied his backpack for the bloke to rest on. Looking at this image now (click to enlarge), I recall the cops approached putting on disposable gloves. A good and sensible policy reminding me I didn't wash up after assisting. That's life I guess.

That corner is a dreadful angle, you really have to have your wits about you crossing the road down there. Look after yourself! Hep C. etc is not fun .... perhaps some disinfectant wipes in the glove box ? Ive seen them at the supermarket very inexpensive. I work at Central so I'm keeping my eyes open, one nite I will spot you and say g'day.

Cheers Belle, good suggestion. I'll pick up some wipes as soon as.

Another suggestion is to put some disposable gloves into a small film cannister, you can keep them close by. Other diseases such as scabies are sometimes a problem. I use to be a cop, so be careful mate.

eeeeeeewwwwwwwww scabies id forgotten about them.... probably the worst experience of my life...well almost.
