Protection

Late at night a stunning blonde around forty years old climbed into the front seat and asked, "What’s this plastic screen for ?" Being weary I flippantly replied, "Umm...I’m special." "Why ?" She was either drunk or having a ‘blonde’ moment, so I switched the focus...

  • "Didn’t your mother tell you never to sit in the front seat of taxis at night ?"
  • "No, why ?"
  • "Have you got daughters ?"
  • "Yes, two toddlers."
  • "Are they special to you ?"
  • "Of course."
  • "Okay, will you be advising them that late at night they should always sit in the back seat of taxis when travelling home alone."
  • She gave this some thought, then said, "Well, I hadn’t really thought about it but now you mention it, yes, yes of course."

Case closed, tip gained.

You should have just told her it's to stop her from copping a feel while you're trying to drive.

Good call. I've never been specifically told, I've just seen too many creepy cabbies.

funny - i was just purusing wikipedia on international social etiquette and saw this:

"when riding alone in a taxi [in australia and new zealand], it is considered more polite to sit in the front passenger seat next to the driver. however, it is not considered impolite for women to choose the back seat if the driver is male, especially at night."

good confirmation.

Britt - I actually had the opposite situation in Sydney once. Booked a cab for about 5am one morning, it arrived and I went to get in the front seat. Door locked. I tried again. Door still locked. After 3-4 tries (I was tired, ok?) I tried the back door, which worked.

It wasn't until I got in that I twigged - female cab driver, and I'm not exactly a small guy.

One of my mates shagged a female cab driver last year when he got a pickup from the pub to home.

Don't know what she looked like. I'm guessing not so great if she has to pick up drunks in her cab to get a shag.

Lucky I'm a blonde, thank YOU for the number plate find I love it. luv 1.618
