Bleak
This was the Mid North Coast last week; rain, more rain and ugly, grey seas.
Due to the train line being washed out I was forced to drive rather than taking a relaxing train journey, necessitating a 5 hour return trip on Saturday for work that night.
However a two hour siesta got me through the shift despite receiving notice of the loss of three more demerit points. This occurred recently at a newish speed camera on Cleveland Street outside Sydney Girls High, doing 60 in a 50kph zone, late at night.
Yes, I made a mistake but, gees, speed limits clearly changed for the sole purpose of revenue-raising is bloody cruel.

Just curious - when you are in your civies and just driving in your personal capacity, do you still look out for fares etc or are you able to switch off from cabbie mode? Can a long country drive still be relaxing for you?

Commiserations Adrian. I've also been booked for doing 60kph along there, on a Saturday morning.
It's a real trap, and nothing but revenue raising

Craig, yes and no. Whilst long country drives are delightful, in comparison, driving around town in my own car I often brake or change lanes when I see a pedestrian waiting for a cab. It's pure instinct and somewhat embarrassing.
Thanks, Bill. I've driven past that camera plenty of times but on this occasion I was engrossed in conversation. Bloody passengers, I shouldn't talk to them!

1.bare, desolate, and often windswept: a bleak plain.
2. cold and piercing; raw: a bleak wind.
3. without hope or encouragement; depressing; dreary: a bleak future.
