Somewhere

A typical Aussie beach on the NSW mid-north coast, somewhere near Scotts Head. Excuse the vagueness for I'm now in full holiday mode, drifting from beach to beach. Back to reality on the weekend. Go the mighty Dragons !

Heaven

A daily sight, in my pajamas at dawn, blogging. Only difference being I've just awoken instead of readying for bed. That and the location - in the bush accompanied by the sound of waking birds. Magpies, butcher birds, kookaburras, wood ducks, the usual suspects. I'm staying on an island in the Clarence River, the largest inland island in the southern hemisphere, apparently. Whatever, it's going to be hard to leave. Have a nice day.

Half-way

Here's a moblog of my lunch spot on the river yesterday in Port Macquarie. I'm half-way on the journey and feeling half-human already.

New Toy

I'm testing a moblog tool just released by my blog host, Typepad. The first test is it's ability to send more than 160 characters of text, despite being a pain to key in. Sorry to be a bore but this is today's 'post' whilst I muck around with this moblog. Now to send...

UPDATE : Well the image arrived full size and blasted right across the Body and into the Sidebar. Damn, can't resize images below 640px on the phone as with the old KABLOG tool, a major design shortcoming. Back to the drawing board for this tool. However the transmission time was super fast plus supported excess characters, utilising email capabilities. Here's a screen shot of how the tool displays on the phone...

Maroubra Riot

Three wrecked vehicles in Maroubra Rd. Around 9pm a gang of 80+ punks brandishing baseball bats and machetes rampaged along Marine Parade and Maroubra Rd trashing cars. I figure near 100 with smashed windows and slashed tyres.

The Eleventh Hour

Passing through Kempsey today I caught the end of their Remembrance Day service. Had a brief chat with an old fella wearing a slouch hat and medals, 'Where were you ?'. 'New Guinea'. 'How'd you go ?'. 'Aw...well, I made it back'. 'Ever been back ?'. 'No bloody fear !'. 'Know any of these memorial names ?'. Pause... 'Too bloody many'. 'Did you go away with them ?'. 'Went to school with them, down the river here'. Good boys, never forgotten.

Canal Homes 1

A massive canal development on the Hastings River is now complete. In a testament to modern civil and hydraulic engineering two large circular harbours were created. Tidal flows with the river are maintained, flood control weirs installed, dodgy soils cleaned and mangroves relocated. Good job but who'd live there ?

Canal Homes 2

Feel like a sea change ? How about a home in NSW's last canal development where land prices average 650K. You get to live together like sardines, in a fishbowl. Just a short stagger from Panthers at Port Macquarie, shopping mall and Maccas. Retirement heaven.

Welcome to Adrian Neylan's blog of Sydney taxi stories.
