We all know about that photographer, Bill Henson. Well, on the weekend I read an online opinion which claimed that given he specialised in photographing naked teenagers, then his work was derivate and thus redundant. Not fresh. Now I fear my constant recording of Oucha will be deemed derivative and redundant. Oh, the shame.
Normally my vacation images are sent from the phone. However I've been having trouble with the N95 image editor resulting in dud re-sizing.
So I've used a mate's PC to post a dozen shots of my travels this week, from south to north. They're of the mid-North Coast in a few specific places, reflecting stays with friends in those areas.
Here's a challenge for those familiar with the area to correctly guess the localities. Whoever scores the highest result wins....err, a dinner with yours truly at the Regent Street Gas, Guts 'n Go. (Judges decision is final; dinner anytime between 10pm and 1am; no pick-ups, transfers or accomodation provided; no travel or food security available; win at your own risk, thrillseekers!).
After downloading a mass of holiday snaps and footage it was impossible to collate them overnight, so instead I've posted a video taken around Sydney's Kissing Point a few weeks ago.
The Nokia N95 shot it in a 640/480 format making a 77 MB file. As Vox has a video limit of 50 MB I reduced it to a 320/240 format of 8 MB. At the same time I changed recent holiday videos to the same format resulting in better quality vision. If anyone can suggest how to easily embed video files in the VLC player, without involving Quicktime, please let me know. Sigh...
There may not look like much difference between these two images but once enlarged, the evidence is clear. The left image is taken with my old Nokia 7610 1 megapixal camera/phone. The image on the right is the first test of my new Nokia N95 5 megapix camera/phone. Supposedly, it's the best device on the market so it's just a matter of undertaking an intensive familiarisation course in order to master the bloody thing.
Have a nice weekend.
The holiday is now over and I'm back in the cablog-saddle. This was my first decent holiday in some years. 'Decent' meaning more than four of five days as this vacation proved that one needs at least a week to ten days to get in the zone and really relax.
Fortunately I returned a few days early in order to rejig my body clock for a return to work Sunday evening. Hence this blog at 2am whilst I download 288 new images from the phone. The best will be posted over the next few days.
My apologies for not sending more moblogs but hey, you know how it is on vacation. I trust those I did post gave you some idea of how it was on the North Coast in spring, just delightful, especially as it was off-season and school holidays hadn't commenced.
Finally, thanks to those of you who commented in appreciation of the moblogs and posted best wishes during my vacation. Here are a few thumbnails of some beaches I visited... (all images enlarge)
